Southampton defender Cedric Soares has spoken of how he is expecting a stern test from Burnley tomorrow when his side travel to Turf Moor.
Speaking to the club’s official website ahead of the match, the Portugal international insisted that Saints are taking Burnley very seriously and are well aware of the threat that they pose to Claude Puel’s men.
It’s a very tough game. We know all games are very difficult in the Premier League, but that’s how it is. We are used to that. Playing away at Burnley is very, very tough, but we are prepared.
Cedric has been in superb form recently, coming back into the team after an ankle injury and showing just how good a player he can be. He particularly stood out in Wednesday night’s EFL Cup semi-final first leg victory over Liverpool at St Mary’s.

We have great players and if we think like a team and stay together, it will definitely make a difference. All the teams are difficult and when they play at home it’s even tougher. If we keep our strong mind and stay together, if we have this strong character, then we can achieve a good performance.
However, he’ll be hoping to help Saints to yet another important win tomorrow as they take on The Clarets who, on home soil this season, have been quite superb.
We now need to win in the Premier League and then our confidence will be totally back.
Cedric didn’t feature against Burnley when the two sides met earlier on in the season, with Cuco Martina deputising as the European Championship winner recovered from an ankle problem.
