Southampton have had their interest in Stefano Sturaro confirmed by his agent, now that the transfer window has closed.
Deadline day for English clubs was last Wednesday at 11pm, with Southampton not completing any business on deadline day. Although, they did smash their transfer record on Sofiane Boufal in the week leading up to the end of the window.
Claude Puel may, however, have wanted more. This is because Carlo Volpi, Sturaro’s agent, has confirmed that Southampton were interested in his client.

Speaking to Tutto Juve, Carlo Volpi confirmed that Southampton were interested in Sturaro.
Yes, Southampton and Sunderland were interested in Sturaro.
The latter’s manager, David Moyes, is an admirer since his time at Everton but the discussion has stopped in June because there was no basis to enter into negotiations. Nothing has ever been taken into account by Juventus.
So Southampton’s interest petered away due to Juventus’ unwillingness to let go of the midfielder. They may make a move in January if Juventus decide to change their mind, based on how well he performs in the next six months in Turin.
The Italian midfielder may find himself a place in the team this season, which would entice Juventus into keeping him in the long-run.
