Peretz Confirmed As First Choice Ahead Of Ramsdale

Southampton goalkeeper Peretz has credited his strong working relationship with Aaron Ramsdale following Tonda Eckert’s decisive move to cement his undisputed starting status.

The 26-year-old secured his permanent long-term contract at St Mary’s after Eckert publicly ruled out a positional rotation. This clarity from the manager has prevented off-pitch friction, despite Ramsdale falling down the domestic pecking order following an aborted departure.

Positive Dynamic At St Mary’s

The Israeli international believes this unusual situation has maintained high training standards within the squad.

“We have a really good goalkeeping group and a coach that works really in detail with us and gives us everything we need, so I’m really happy with it,” Peretz told the Daily Echo.

“First of all, he’s a great guy. We have a really good relationship on and off pitch, and with the whole goalkeeper group,” the goalkeeper added.

Defensive Consistency Under Eckert

Eckert previously confirmed his tactical commitment to his established starters following a successful loan spell last term.

Speaking to The Mirror earlier this month, the manager stated: “I think he deserves that off the back of some brilliant performances in the last season, my commitment to Longy [George Long] as number two stands as well.”

That definitive hierarchy has provided a psychological boost for the defensive unit. The team have established a resilient foundation, remaining unbeaten in six Championship matches to keep their early momentum intact.

Eckert will now prepare his settled squad for a trip to Wrexham this weekend.
