Sri Lanka will begin their three-match T20 series against England at a near-capacity Utilita Bowl on Tuesday under the new leadership of Charith Asalanka.
Significant Squad Alterations Confirmed
The visitors arrive in Southampton with a reshuffled squad after injuries disrupted their initial preparations. Regular captain Kusal Mendis and fast bowler Binura Fernando are completely ruled out with hamstring and back issues respectively.
Pavan Rathnayake and Dilshan Madushanka replace the injured duo in the touring party. England enter the 6:30pm fixture with their own adjustments, as Phil Salt, Jacob Bethell and Sam Curran miss out.
Aneurin Donald and Henry Crocombe receive new call-ups, while Jamie Overton, Gus Atkinson and Ben Duckett return. The national squad will utilise Hampshire’s elite home facilities, just as manager Tonda Eckert prepares Saints for physical Championship challenges across the city.
High Ticket Demand Expected
Utilita Bowl staff have finalised logistical preparations for international cricket’s immediate return to the south coast. Only limited match tickets remain available following significant ballot demand, while venue hospitality packages are similarly restricted.
Organisers encourage supporters to secure parking allocations immediately, as spaces routinely sell out completely for international fixtures. A standard booking fee applies to all remaining seat purchases.
This major late-summer event kickstarts the autumn calendar, arriving well before sporting attention turns towards the traditional festive schedule across the country. The international sides will travel to Cardiff and Manchester later this week to conclude the T20 series.
