According to a report from Spanish news source El Desmarque, Southampton have joined the chase to sign Wolfsburg forward Bas Dost.
It was reported just a week ago that Dost had admitted his interest in a move to a club like Saints this summer but it has now emerged that Claude Puel’s side could be open to a move for the Dutch striker also.
However, if Saints are to move for the powerful Netherlands international, they will need to fend off competition from a variety of attractive prospects across Europe for the towering forward’s signature.
The report suggests that, alongside Southampton, both Spanish side Real Betis and Turkish giants Besiktas are interested in making a move for Dost this summer.

Also, it is stated that Wolfsburg could be willing to start the negotiations over a potential move away for Dost at just €7 million; a price that would be well within Saints’ range if they were to make a move.
The cheaper fee for Dost has emerged as the Dutchman enters his final remaining year on his current deal at the Bundesliga side, meaning that any potential suitors could get him on the cheap.
Although Dost can be inconsistent, as shown by his tenure with Wolfsburg, his striking abilities are undoubted.
