Southampton closing on Kostic

According to The Daily Mail, Southampton are closing in on the signing of Filip Kostic from Stuttgart.

Southampton are currently in serious discussions with the German club over the winger. The dealings are looking to be concluded by the end of the week.

Kostic is rated at £12m, with Southampton seemingly happy to stump up Stuttgart’s asking price for the winger. Kostic is thought to be very keen on a move to the Premier League this summer. This comes after Stuttgart’s relegation from the Bundesliga.

The 23-year-old scored five goals in 33 matches last season as his side was relegated from the league, showing his class in an otherwise dire set of players.

The signing looks set to happen regardless of the manager situation, with Les Reed and Ross Wilson working with the scouting system to sign players so that the manager situation does not hinder their progress this summer.

The report also says that Southampton are still confident of signing Nathan Redmond, with Sadio Mane expected to leave the club this summer.

This means that both Kostic and Redmond could be announced as Southampton players in the coming weeks.
