According to an incredibly surprising report from Football Espana, Southampton right-back Cedric Soares is a shock target of Barcelona’s as the Spanish giants look to bolster their squad this summer.
It’s been well documented that their current right-back Dani Alves is all set to depart the Nou Camp this summer and this means that they’ll be looking around for potential right-back options when the transfer window rolls around.
Cedric has had a fairly up and down first season in English football with Southampton, often being alternated with fellow right-back Cuco Martina by manager Ronald Koeman.
Because of this, it could be argued that Cedric hasn’t really hit his top form in a Saints shirt just yet and could be in for a much better season next time round after a full year’s worth of adaptation to the Premier League.

The Portuguese international has also revealed how flattered he was to have been linked with the Catalan giants. Mundo Deportivo report that he said this to Portuguese media after the links with Barcelona:
It’s always interesting for a player when such an important club and a big name show you their attention.
I can’t be thinking about it because I must be focused on the national team.
A move to Barcelona is undoubtedly lucrative but question marks would almost certainly be raised regarding the move if it is to come off.
