Southampton have recently been linked with a move for Anderlecht starlet Marco Kana.
The Saints are reportedly watching the 18-year-old from home, with Vincent Kompany seeing a young version of himself in Kana.
The teenager, who has been labelled as a ‘wonderkid‘ in the latest Football Manager instalment, mainly plies his trade as a defensive midfielder, although he can also provide cover at centre-back.
He’s made five appearances this season and was rewarded with a new contract just months after signing his maiden deal.
One exciting young midfielder currently on the books at St Mary’s is Alex Jankewitz, and we feel a partnership between the two 18-year-old’s could be a frightening one in years to come, should Southampton seal a deal for Kana.
Jankewitz, who can play as any type of central midfielder, has reportedly been on the radar of both Barcelona and Parma recently.
Southampton fans have been wanting the Swiss starlet to feature in Ralph Hasenhuttl’s first-team plans in recent months.
Kana could provide the defensive stability in a future partnership, similar to Oriol Romeu currently, while Jankewitz may be the perfect box-to-box midfielder.
There’s also an argument to even throw in current star James Ward-Prowse to complete a midfield three, but looking way down the line, it appears as if the two teenagers could be just what the Saints need.
First of all, though, the Saints need to secure Kana’s services, which could be difficult considering he is already valued at £4.05m by Transfermarkt and is under contract until 2025.
