Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has hailed Che Adams’ fantastic attitude after his assist against Aston Villa at the weekend.
Hasenhuttl says that Adams does get frustrated at times by not playing, but still shows up to games with a good attitude.
Speaking to the Daily Echo, Hasenhuttl said:
He is a guy who is one day a little bit frustrated when he sees he doesn’t play but then when the game comes, he shows up immediately and this is fantastic.
That’s why we brought him here.
I know how important he is. The frustration he has because he’s not starting is understandable.
But for me, it’s a luxury problem to have four strikers for two positions.

This shows why Southampton were right to reject Leeds’ £19m offer for Adams in January. Hasenhuttl made the final call on that transfer and decided to keep him, and these comments show exactly why it was a good decision.
Hasenhuttl’s comments illustrate Adams’ superb attitude and how he wants to fight for his place at Southampton. It is good to see that he is frustrated with not starting, as it shows a hunger to succeed and that he is not content with just sitting on the bench and collecting his wage.
Adams then channeling his frustration into positive energy by turning up on matchdays ready to go is a great sign. It shows that he does not give up easily and is not willing to accept his place on the bench.
This attitude will hopefully help him force his way into Hasenhuttl’s starting XI before kicking on and becoming a key player for the club. Adams is still only 23 and in his first top-flight campaign, so he has a lot to learn and could develop over time under Hasenhuttl’s coaching.
