Southampton centre-back Jannik Vestergaard has been linked with a loan move away from the club this month.
The Danish international has found it difficult to get many first-team opportunities for the Saints this season, appearing only 11 times in the Premier League this term.

The defender played the entire 90 minutes as Southampton brushed aside Huddersfield Town in the third round of the FA Cup at St Mary’s last weekend.
However, despite recent speculation surrounding his future, the towering figure has promised to stay and fight for his place. As quoted on the Mirror, he said:
I am a Southampton player and my only focus is to do my best every day to help the club.
I will take up the challenge here, work hard at training with the aim of getting back into the line-up.
In football, it is always the manager picking the team and the team has done well lately. This is football, and things change quickly. I will fight to get my place back.

The comments from Vestergaard will be encouraging to hear for the Saints fans because it shows the 27-year-old’s hunger and desire to play and fight for the club.
The Saints are currently five points above the relegation zone and Vestergaard could be an asset in the league at some point because as he correctly pointed out, things change quickly in football.
A defensive injury or even an unexpected suspension could mean that Hasenhuttl needs Vestergaard, and the defender knows that he has to be ready when called upon.
