Former Leeds striker Noel Whelan believes Che Adams would be a fantastic January signing for the Whites.
Speaking to Football Insider, as cited on the Express, Whelan believes that the Southampton forward could provide some valuable Championship experience to Marcelo Bielsa’s side in the new year.
With on-loan striker Eddie Nketiah tipped for an early return to Arsenal, the Whites have been linked with a move to sign Adams following his struggles at Southampton this season.
If that does come off then that’s a fantastic signing for Leeds, it really would be. He was immense for Birmingham in a team that did not really have any superstars but Che Adams was a different class that season.
Snapped up by Southampton, we know he can do it in the Championship. We know he’s got strength and pace, everything that you probably need to give you that added edge and that little bit extra over the other teams, is a Che Adams.
That would be great if it actually comes off. It might just be talk, we don’t know. I’d be over the moon with that kind of signing.

There’s no guarantee that Adams would get the game time that he deserves at Leeds.
If Southampton are looking to let him leave on loan in the new year, they should be prioritising a move to a club where he’d be starting regularly.
As Arsenal fans have seen with Nketiah, Bielsa has been reluctant to drop Patrick Bamford or even play the two together, so Adams may only ever be considered as a back-up striker at Elland Road.
He’s a player that needs to be playing and scoring regularly if he wants to rebuild his confidence in front of goal.
