Speculation has mounted over the last couple of days that Southampton manager Ronald Koeman will join Everton.
Despite Saints’ Executive Director of Football Les Reed saying that contract talks with the Dutchman were progressing positively, rumours have persisted that the former Valencia manager will be the new head man at the Merseyside club.
If Koeman did leave it would be a major blow to the south coast club as he recently guided the team to a record high finish of sixth in the Premier League. Many fans see him as the man to take Southampton forward, possibly to Champions League football within the next few years.
The general consensus is that he would only leave to go to Barcelona or Holland, however, this is seemingly being proved to be incorrect as many media sources are reporting that he will become The Toffees’ manager in the coming days.
Koeman has helped Saints to two strong, record-breaking seasons in the Premier League since his arrival and it would be a big blow to see him leave.
I desperately hope that the Saints board will show some ambition and get him to stay. However, if he does go, the club will have the challenging task of finding a new manager for next season. Here are six options.
