Southampton have reportedly made a loan offer for Atletico Madrid winger Nicolas Gaitan.
The experienced Argentine wide man is looking all but set to leave the Spanish club this month but is yet to find a suitor, despite talk of interest from the Premier League.
Gaitan is thought to be enthused by the prospect of a move back to his homeland of Argentina, but a move to the English top flight is also a likely outcome.

According to the printed edition of Marca, as cited by Sport Witness, Saints’ interest remains firm and they want to take the former Benfica man on loan until the end of the season.
Gaitan is out of favour at Atletico, with Vitolo having returned from his loan spell at Las Palmas, with the club’s transfer embargo having finally been lifted.
Saints appear to be on the lookout for a new winger and Mauricio Pellegrino wants to sign Quincy Promes from Spartak Moscow in the coming days.
The club are also closing in on Monaco striker Guido Carrillo.
