Southampton are unlikely to sell Manolo Gabbiadini in January, according to Di Marzio, but Bologna remain keen to work on a deal for the striker ahead of the summer.
Reports on Monday suggested that Serie A outfit Bologna are in contact with Gabbiadini’s agent as they weigh up attacking options in the ongoing transfer window.
However, fresh claims from Di Marzio indicate that Saints will not part company with Gabbiadini during the mid-season window and Bologna will instead focus their attention on luring the Italian forward back to his homeland in June.

This comes after Simone Verdi, who has been playing exceptionally well for Bologna this season in Serie A, turned down the chance to join Napoli this month. He will likely stay at the club until the summer transfer window at the very least.
However, Di Marzio claim that Bologna are extremely keen to land Gabbiadini in the near future still, and state that they are getting ‘closer’ to the securing the player’s return to the club ahead of the summer.
Gabbiadini played on loan at Bologna in the 2012/13 season and has been starved of regular game time in recent weeks under Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino.
