Southampton are being linked with a January move for Espanyol striker Leo Baptistao.
It’s claimed by Italian news outlet Calciomercato that the Saints are one of several clubs keeping a close eye on the Brazilian, who has impressed in recent times for his side.
The report claims that Serie A giants Roma want to sign Baptistao as they hunt for a suitable backup to former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.

However, they face competition from English clubs, with Saints and Brighton named as two Premier League clubs who are keen on landing the 25-year-old.
Baptistao has not been hitting the net as often as he’d have liked, but has been turning in some promising displays for Espanyol, nonetheless. The former Atletico Madrid forward has netted three goals so far this season and has also chipped in with two assists.
It’s stated by Calciomercato that Baptistao is currently contracted with Espanyol until 2021, with a release clause worth €27 million inserted in his deal.
