Southampton fans fume over Nathan Redmond’s performance against Leeds

A number of Southampton fans were frustrated with the “shocker” of a performance from Nathan Redmond during the Saints’ latest setback in their 3-0 defeat at Leeds United on Tuesday evening.

The Saints went into the game with the ambition of getting back to winning ways after losing six of their previous seven Premier League matches. However, they were once again not good enough after the interval as Leeds took their chances, whereas Southampton who failed to take advantage of being the better team in the first half.

One player who endured a difficult evening was Redmond, with the attacker having struggled to really affect the game enough in the attacking third. He gave the ball away too often and was not able to take full advantage when he got into some promising positions in the final third, while his pressing was a little off at times as well.

Redmond gave the ball away on 13 occasions and had a passing accuracy of just 53% during the 58 minutes he was on the field (Sofascore) as he struggled to make the most of the service he was offered in the first half. On a night when Ralph Hasenhuttl made the decision to rest Danny Ings, starting the 26-year-old up front alongside Che Adams proved to be a gamble which did not pay of for the Saints.

Southampton fans bemoan Redmond’s performance against Leeds

Many Southampton fans feel that Redmond is not good enough to be starting out of position up front for the Saints at the moment, while some were frustrated over his lack of end product.
