Southampton fans react to rallying cry from Oriol Romeu

A number of Southampton supporters have reacted less than enthusiastically to ta rallying cry issued to the Saints’ squad by Oriol Romeu urging them to bounce back from their latest defeat against Wolves.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side are enduring perhaps their most miserable period since the Austrian took charge in December 2018. The 2-1 defeat against Wolves on Sunday made it six successive Premier League defeats for the Saints for the first time in their history, and it means that their worrying dip in form continued as they dropped further down the table.

Southampton have not been helped by injury issues, with Romeu himself having been out for a period of time and only just returning to action. They are still without the likes of Theo Walcott, Ibrahima Diallo and Kyle Walker-Peters, while the lack of January recruitment, especially in the full-back positions, has left the squad depth exposed in recent weeks.

In comments shared via Southampton’s official Twitter channel, Romeu has urged the squad to show a reaction against Chelsea on Saturday and ensure that they get back on form quickly.

Many Southampton fans groaned that they have heard the same kind of messages from players in recent weeks following the other defeats and now want them to do their talking on the pitch, turning words into positive action and results.
