Southampton fans react as Man City enter race for Danny Ings

A number of Southampton fans have been reacting to a report from The Athletic that Manchester City are considering making a move for Danny Ings in the summer as Sergio Aguero’s future is uncertain.

The Saints face a real battle to secure the long-term future of Ings in the summer, with the forward’s current £75,000-a-week deal set to expire at the end of next season. Southampton have been keen to secure his future and have offered him a new deal, but it is being reported that he wants to play Champions League football and is not yet ready to commit his future to the Saints.

The 28-year-old has already been linked with a potential move to Tottenham, with reports that Jose Mourinho’s side are considering bringing him in to provide competition for Harry Kane, per Eurosport. West Ham have also been credited with an interest as they look to bring in a reliable scorer after mounting a challenge for a European place this term.

It has now emerged that Manchester City are considering making a move for either Ings or Inter Milan forward Romelu Lukaku, with the future of Aguero not yet completely sorted out and Gabriel Jesus not being a guaranteed starter, per The Athletic.

Some Southampton fans were suggesting that Manchester City would be a decent destination for Ings and that they would offer more by the way of a transfer fee for him than Tottenham would.
