Saints fans lament Kyle Walker-Peters injury blow

A number of Southampton fans have been bemoaning the news that Kyle Walker-Peters is set to miss out on the game against Arsenal tonight with a muscle injury.

The right-back has been one of the Saints’ most impressive performers so far this season after the club signed him for £12m from Tottenham following an initial loan move. The 23-year-old has been an ever-present for Southampton in the Premier League so far this term and he has helped Hasenhuttl’s side record eight clean sheets in his 18 appearances (Sofascore).

He started the FA Cup win against Arsenal on Saturday and he was an influential performer as they secured a 1-0 win. Walker-Peters managed to make four tackles, one interception, one clearance and two vital blocks (Sofascore). That shows how huge a loss he will be for the Saints as they aim to repeat their cup victory in the Premier League tonight.

Hasenhuttl confirmed the injury news to the media ahead of the game against Arsenal. It will likely represent a chance for Yan Valery to come into the side for his first start in the league this term. The full-back has had two appearances from the bench against Liverpool and Leicester City and he will now get the chance to stake a claim and remind Hasenhuttl of his qualities.

Saints fans react to Walker-Peters injury blow

Many Southampton fans were frustrated with the “worrying” injury to Walker-Peters, with many feeling that his presence will be very hard to replace. Some were left raging over the enormous volume of injuries suffered by the squad overall this season.
