Southampton have reportedly joined Scottish giants Celtic in the race to sign Austrian speedster Husein Balic.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claimed that the 24-year-old is of interest to the Saints, the Hoops and Championship side Brentford.
Balic currently plies his trade for LASK Linz and is under contract until 2024 but could be available for as little as £2.8m in the January window.
The wide man, who has been timed to run 20 metres in just 2.75 seconds, has been involved in seven goals in his 14 appearances this season (Transfermarkt).

Nathan Redmond, Stuart Armstrong and Moussa Djenepo have made a total of 18 appearances combined this season. The trio have just two goals and two assists collectively, whereas Balic has five goals and two assists in 14 appearances by himself.
At just £2.8m, a deal for Balic could be a shrewd one to seal in the New Year. He would add plenty of pace at St Mary’s, a killer pass and an eye for goal to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s wide ranks.
Also, a just 24 years of age, Hasenhuttl could help to develop his fellow countryman’s game even further.
