Southampton, along with Premier League rivals West Ham United, are still thought to be keen on Sporting Lisbon winger Jovane Cabral.
That’s according to A Bola, cited by HITC, who claim that the Saints and the Hammers showed an interest in the 22-year-old over the summer and are continuing to monitor the player ahead of the January window.
Tottenham are another club to have expressed an interest in Cabral and reportedly even made an approach for the player in the recent window.
The latest report added that Sporting Lisbon are desperate to secure the winger on a new long-term deal, which would include a £90m release clause.
Cabral, whose current release clause stands at around £55m, can play on either flank and is currently valued at £9m by Transfermarkt.

It appears that the January window could be make-or-break when it comes to Southampton’s interest in the winger, although Ralph Hasenhuttl isn’t short of wide options as it stands.
The Austrian has Nathan Redmond, Stuart Armstrong, Theo Walcott and Moussa Djenepo at his disposal, while Mohamed Elyounoussi is out on loan with Celtic.
Another winger may not be required at this stage, especially at the staggering release clause being touted, but it’s positive to see the club continuing to track such an exciting prospect.
