Southampton stretched their unbeaten run to five games on Sunday afternoon with a thrilling 4-3 win over Aston Villa.
And several Saints supporters were quick to praise goalkeeper Alex McCarthy for his display at Villa Park.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side were three goals to the good at the break, thanks to Jannik Vestergaard’s header and two stunning free-kicks from birthday boy James Ward-Prowse.
Danny Ings then made it four shortly after half-time, however, The Saints were made to sweat after goals from Tyrone Mings, Ollie Watkins and Jack Grealish.
McCarthy made seven saves against Dean Smith’s side, with opposite number Emiliano Martinez failing to register a single stop.
The 30-year-old was actually Southampton’s third-best performer at Villa Park, as per WhoScored.
The goalkeeper recorded a 7.52 rating – only Ward-Prowse and Ings ended with a higher score.
