Tottenham Hotspur remain confident of securing a deal to sign Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, despite Everton’s interest in the Danish international.
It was widely reported on Tuesday that Saints had accepted a £25m bid from Everton for their former captain but those reports have now been quashed.
Tottenham have already seen a bid of £15m plus £4m in add-ons rejected by Southampton but according to a report from Gary Jacob of The Times, Spurs intend to increase their offer and remain confident of securing a deal for the 24-year-old.
The player himself has reportedly told Everton that he favours a move to Spurs over a move to Goodison Park, so it remains to be seen if he gets his wish of playing for José Mourinho’s side.

Given that Hojbjerg hasn’t signed a new contract and seemingly wants to leave, the current situation is probably the best-case scenario for Saints.
They have two clubs interested in the player and it looks like a bidding war will now take place, which will allow Southampton to hopefully get a few that’s close to their asking price.
