Tottenham are reportedly ready to sell Kyle Walker-Peters this summer following his comments about Jose Mourinho.

According to Football Insider, Mourinho wants to sell Walker-Peters after he did an interview with Southampton and admitted that he would still be at Spurs if Mourinho was not there.

Speaking to Southampton’s website, Walker-Peters said:

I think had he (Pochettino) stayed, I’d still be at Tottenham.

Spurs are now preparing to offload the right-back as Mourinho has been left unimpressed his Walker-Peters’ comments.

Southampton could now look to take advantage of this by securing a permanent deal for the defender this summer. Whilst Walker-Peters has not had much time to make an impression on the south coast, he is still 22 and it could be a gamble worth taking given his potential and previous Premier League experience with Tottenham.

Yan Valery is Southampton’s only other option at right-back and he has struggled for form this season. The Frenchman has recorded a WhoScored rating of 6.31 in the Premier League, showing that he has been unable to produce consistently solid performances.

This means that bringing in permanent competition for Valery in the form of Walker-Peters could be a shrewd move by the club. They could help each other to progress and continue getting better by pushing hard to nail down the right-back position in the coming seasons.

Should Southampton sign Walker-Peters permanently?
