Celtic should be relieved following an update from Alex Crook on Southampton’s stance on Mo Elyounoussi and Fraser Forster.
Domestic football has been suspended indefinitely and that could mean Celtic are playing games beyond the end of their loan deals.
However, reporter Alex Crook has reassured fans that Southampton are relaxed about the situation and would extend their loans.
Speaking to talkSPORT (19/03/20), as transcribed by Daily Record, Crook said:
Because they are both under contract Southampton are pretty relaxed about that. If they have to extend their loans I think they will so that’s good news for Celtic.

This should come as a huge relief to Celtic, as it means that they will have two of their key players to finish the season – regardless of when the remaining games are able to be played. Whilst Elyounoussi has struggled of late, with zero goals and one assist in 10 games, Forster has still been vital to Celtic’s team as their number one.
Forster has played 38 games for Celtic in all competitions and produced some exceptional performances between the sticks. Celtic should be glad that he is able to stay and see out the season and help the club close out another title ahead of Rangers.
They should also be thankful to Southampton should this situation arise, as they could just as easily call the pair back and refuse to extend the deals. It is great that Southampton are doing the right thing and allowing them to remain in Scotland until next season.
