Southampton continue to track Scamacca ahead of summer move

Southampton are continuing their pursuit of Sassuolo forward Gianluca Scamacca and have been scouting him in recent weeks.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Southampton, AC Milan and Benfica are all interested in the striker and all have been keeping tabs on him heading into the summer transfer window.

If Southampton are able to secure a deal for Scamacca, it could come as a huge boost to Leeds United in their pursuit of Che Adams. Leeds were heavily linked with a January swoop for Adams, but ultimately failed to bring him to Elland Road as Southampton stood firm.

Leeds are currently top of the Championship and heading for the Premier League next season. This means that they could be ready to invest in their squad and bolster their options, including a potential return move for Adams in the summer window.

Signing Scamacca, who has 11 goals in 19 starts this season, could allow Southampton to sanction an exit for Adams. Scamacca is two years younger than the Leeds targer and could take his place in the squad, as an understudy to Shane Long and Danny Ings.

With Adams having failed to score a single goal for the club this season, it could be a good decision to replace him with Scamacca this summer if the finances are right.

If Leeds are able to help Southampton recoup the fee they paid Birmingham for him and the club are able to sign Scamacca for less, it could be a shrewd bit of business from the Saints.
