Southampton winger Mo Elyounoussi has admitted that he is enjoying life at Celtic on loan this season.
Elyounoussi says that he feels the positivity from Celtic fans in the city when he is out and about and wants to repay them by winning more trophies.
The forward is on loan to Celtic from Southampton until the end of the season, after joining the Scottish side last summer.
Speaking to the Daily Record, Elyounoussi said:
As a team we want to play football, we want to win games and we want to win titles – with the fans and the green and white half of the city behind us. What could be better than that?
Whenever I go for a walk in the city, I can feel the positivity from the Celtic fans. They only ever talk positively to me. All I want to do is repay them by helping Celtic win more trophies.
Elyounoussi’s comments could come as a boost to Celtic in their hopes of signing him on a permanent deal in the next transfer window. Football Insider reported last month that Celtic are considering a bid for Elyounoussi as they look to potentially keep him Scotland beyond the end of the current campaign.
The winger admitted that he enjoys winning trophies and playing football with Celtic shows that he could be open to staying longer. He says that the fans are positive and that mentality from the Celtic fans could be what convinces him that staying with the club is the right decision, as they back their players and are prepared to show faith in him to perform.
Whereas, in England there was, perhaps, more scrutiny over Elyounoussi’s form in the Premier League for Southampton. He failed to score a single goal for the club in his season at the club and is now behind the likes of Nathan Redmond, Stuart Armstrong, Sofiane Boufal and Moussa Djenepo in the pecking order for the wide positions.
