Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is reportedly waiting until the end of the season to make a decision on his future, which could mean he is considering an exit.
According to the Daily Echo, Hojbjerg wants to see how Southampton’s season ends before deciding whether or not to sign a new contract with the club.
The report claims that he wants to see where the club is heading before he commits his future to Southampton, with his deal set to expire in the summer of 2021.

This suggests that Hojbjerg has considered leaving the club at the end of the season and has not yet made his mind up. Tottenham are thought to be keen on the midfielder, so it will be interesting to see whether or not they firm up their interest with an offer ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
Hojbjerg may want to see that Southampton are heading in the right direction and looking forward, rather than constantly looking over their shoulder and worrying about relegation. If Southampton have a troubling end to the campaign and only just avoid relegation, it could convince him that staying at St. Mary’s is not the right decision, forcing him to want to leave the club.
His intentions are understandable, as he may have ambitions to play European football and if Southampton are fighting against relegation – that would be unrealistic. If, in the summer, Hojbjerg decides not to extend his contract it could be best for the club to allow him to move on to avoid losing him on a free transfer at the end of his deal.
