Southampton eyeing summer deal to sign Milot Rashica

Southampton are reportedly eyeing up a summer deal to sign Werder Bremen forward Milot Rashica.

According to German outlet Wesser Kurier, Southampton, Roma, Liverpool and RB Leipzig are all interested in the winger as they look to strengthen their squads in the summer.

The report also claims that Bremen could demand a record fee for the Kosovo international, with their current record sale being Diego’s €27m move to Juventus in 2009.

READ SOUTHAMPTON VERDICT

This could be a very good signing for Southampton, in my opinion, depending on the price they would need to pay.

The report suggests that Bremen will demand more than €27m (£22m), which would smash Southampton’s current record signing.

The Saints’ most expensive signing to date is Guido Carrillo, who arrived for a fee of £19m.

If they could negotiate a reasonable fee for Rashica, though, he could prove to be an excellent addition. In the Bundesliga this season, Rashica has scored seven and assisted three in 18 games for Bremen, whilst also scoring three goals in three games in the cup.

This shows that he has end product and has been able to consistently deliver goals and assists in the final third for Bremen throughout the campaign.

He has recorded a WhoScored rating of 7.10 in the Bundesliga and is averaging 1.5 key passes per game. This also shows that, along with his goalscoring touch, he is a creative force.

If Southampton are able to sign him, he could improve their options out wide and add more of a goalscoring threat to their side. This is because he currently has more league goals than any Southampton player outside of Danny Ings this season.
