Former Southampton forward Charlie Austin took to Twitter over the weekend to launch an attack on his previous club.
Austin left Southampton last summer to join West Brom on a permanent deal and has now hit out at the club’s fanbase for their support at St. Mary’s.
As reported by the Daily Echo, Austin Tweeted saying that Southampton’s fans only sing when the team scores and never when the players actually need it. However, Austin later deleted the Tweet following backlash from some Saints supporters on the social media platform.
Austin spent three-and-a-half-years at Southampton after joining the club from QPR in January 2016. He went on to score 16 goals in his four Premier League seasons, starting 33 games in that time. This season, at West Brom, Austin has scored eight goals in 25 Championship matches.
