Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl says that he does not want to discuss VAR following a penalty appeal against Burnley.
The Saints were denied a penalty late on against Burnley as they lost 2-1, with VAR opting against overruling the on-field referee to give the spot-kick.
Hasenhuttl says that he thinks it is pointless to speak about VAR, regardless of what the decision is.
Speaking to the Daily Echo, Hasenhuttl said:
From my point of view it’s pointless to discuss VAR so I do not discuss it anymore.
I don’t want to discuss it. It was not clear whether it’s a handball or not. I have to accept it and concentrate on my team. This is what I do.

Hasenhuttl does not want to dwell on any possible mistakes from the officials and wants to focus on his team and how he can affect their performances going forward. This is a positive mentality from Hasenhuttl and, hopefully, it will help him to continue adapting and improving his squad to suit his style in the Premier League.
Regardless of whether or not Southampton should have been given a penalty for the ball striking Ben Mee on the arm, the performance was not good enough. The Saints managed just two shots on target, compared to Burnley’s six during the match, which shows how little they created throughout.
Rather than worrying about decisions from officials, Hasenhuttl wants to concentrate on what his players could have done differently. If they created more chances and scored more goals, they would not have to worry about one controversial call. This is why Hasenhuttl’s comments show that he is on the right track and is focused on helping his squad make amends for their performance.
