Galatasaray preparing new loan offer for Lemina

Galatasaray are reportedly preparing to make an offer to take Mario Lemina on loan for another season.

According to CNN Turk, Galatasaray are unable to afford his €16m option-to-buy, so are instead going to try to land him on another season-long loan.

The report claims that they will offer Southampton a loan fee of €3m, with an obligation to sign him permanently for €5m in the summer of 2021.

It is an interesting proposal from Galatasaray, but it would see Southampton receiving less money for the midfielder than they originally wanted.

The Saints agreed a €16m fee with Galatasaray, but with this new offer, they could be looking at getting just €3m for Lemina – before having to wait another 12 months for a further €8m.

Even after this long wait for the money, Southampton would still only be getting half of what they wanted in the first place. However, Galatasaray could be Southampton’s only option in terms of moving Lemina on and recouping some money for him.

If no other clubs come in for Lemina, Galatasaray’s offer could be accepted – if Southampton are indeed desperate to seal his exit from St. Mary’s.

The report does not, unfortunately, mention how receptive Southampton would be to this deal, though, so we will have to wait and see how this develops over the coming months.
