Southampton right-back Kayne Ramsay has admitted that his loan move to Shrewsbury will give a huge chance to impress.
He says that the way Shrewsbury play suits him and that he believes that the move is a big step in his career.
Ramsay joined Shrewsbury on loan from Southampton in January, having not made a senior appearance for the Saints this season.
Speaking to The Shropshire Star, Ramsay said:
He’s (Hasenhuttl) played seven or eight (young players). Yan Valery has played about 35 games in the Premier League already. He’s done extremely well. Michael Obafemi as well. It’s the same thing. Yan came from France but Michael came from Leyton Orient and has just kicked on.
I see this as a massive opportunity. The way we play suits me. I like the message he (Ricketts) tries to send and the way he wants me to play will help me more in my career. It’s a big step for me.

Southampton’s current situation at right-back could open the door for Ramsay to earn a place in the first-team next season.
Come pre-season for the 2020/21 campaign, Southampton will only have one right-back in their senior squad – Yan Valery – unless they make a signing in that position.
Kyle Walker-Peters will be back at Spurs following his loan and Cedric Soares is set to leave the club on a free at the end of his contract.
This means that Ramsay could have the opportunity to impress in pre-season and show Hasenhuttl that he is ready to compete with Valery in the Premier League. If he is able to do this, then he could be in with a shot of playing first-team football for the Saints next season.
As Ramsay says, it is a big opportunity for him to gain some valuable first-team experience in League One with Shrewsbury. This could help him prepare to fight for his place in the Southampton squad ahead of next season, if he is able to play regular minutes between now and the end of the season.
