Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed that they will not be making any more signings this month, ending their interest in Southampton’s Che Adams.

Bielsa has revealed that Leeds have finished their business, after landing Jean-Kevin Augustin on loan from RB Leipzig. This means that they will not be pursuing Adams any further.

Speaking to The Athletic’s Phil Hay ahead of Leeds’ Championship clash with Millwall, Bielsa said this.

Adams has been heavily linked with a move to Leeds this month, with The Athletic reporting on Leeds’ interest in the forward.

READ SOUTHAMPTON VERDICT

The BBC reported that Southampton rejected three offers from Leeds for Che Adams, which shows that the club were determined to stop him from leaving St. Mary’s this month. It appears as though their stance forced Leeds to move on to other targets and sign Augustin, which means that Southampton did their job.

Adams can now remain at Southampton and continue to develop under Ralph Hasenhuttl in the Premier League. The striker has failed to score a single goal since his move from Birmingham last summer, but has shown some promising signs – including a match-winning assist against Leicester for Danny Ings earlier this month.

It is too early to write him off, considering that he is six months into his first-ever Premier League season at the age of 23. He needs to be given more time to adjust to his new surroundings and Hasenhuttl’s system, before the club even consider letting him leave.
