Leeds considering Billy Sharp move as Che Adams alternative

Leeds United are on the search for a new striker this month and have identified Southampton’s Che Adams as their main target.

The Whites are in need of a striker after Arsenal recalled Eddie Nketiah from a season-long loan due to a lack of game time.

Leeds officials have been keeping tabs on Adams’ situation, with the Saints looking to add to their attacking ranks before agreeing to a possible Elland Road switch for the 23-year-old.

However, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Sheffield United’s Billy Sharp is another option being considered by the Championship leaders.

Sharp enjoyed a previous stint at Elland Road during the 2014/15 season, scoring five times in 17 Championship starts, via Whoscored.com.

The YEP claim that Leeds are keen to avoid a repeat of a transfer saga 12 months ago, where they failed to sign winger Daniel James after Swansea pulled the plug at the last minute, which probably explains their interest in Sharp.

The recent report also claims that Chris Wilder appears to have left Sharp’s future in his own hands.

However, a move for Adams would probably make more sense to Marcelo Bielsa.

He’s boasted better physical and passing stats than current first-choice Leeds forward Patrick Bamford over the last 12 months, and 10 years younger than Sharp, he may well be in better condition to meet the physical demands from Bielsa.

We feel as if Adams would suit Bielsa’s attacking system both with and without the ball, and if he joined, he could help the Whites back into the top flight.
