Saints welcome Championship side Huddersfield Town to St Mary’s Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup.
Saints will go into this one off the back of an impressive 1-0 home win over Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham side, where Danny Ings scored once again to maintain his impressive form in front of goal.
Danny Cowley’s side fell to a disappointing 5-2 defeat to fellow Championship strugglers Stoke, and will be out to get a positive result in the cup against the saints.
Saints will most likely make whole sale changes to the side that beat Spurs, and almost have a fully fit squad, however Yan Valery will be out with a viral infection.
Huddersfield will be without Tommy Elphick, Alex Pritchard,Colin Quaner and Elias Kachunga, who all missed the town’s last game against Stoke City. Johnathon Hogg is available, as his suspension only applies to the Championship.
READ SOUTHAMPTON VERDICT
Southampton will be obvious favourites to win this, but Huddersfield will no doubt make it difficult for Hasenhuttl’s side this Saturday afternoon.
Saints will be looking to go on a good cup run this year, and will be hoping for a perfect start against the Terriers this weekend.
Huddersfield may fancy their chances of a cup upset against their Premier League opposition, especially if Hasenhuttl does make changes to his staring eleven.
I’m going to predict comfortable 2-0 win for Southampton, who will comfortably progress into the fourth round of the cup.
