Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho is box office when it comes to news and drama. Never one to shy away from giving a soundbite or getting in a confrontation, the Portuguese manager often finds himself as the centre of attention. Speaking to the press after Spurs’ loss to Southampton at St Mary’s on New Years Day, Mourinho was asked about the incident that saw him get a yellow card from Mike Dean. His reply was a typical Jose quip: “I was rude. But I was rude with an idiot. I clearly deserved the yellow card. I had bad words with the guy.” The ‘idiot’ in question was apparently Saints goalkeeping coach Andrew Sparkes over what is understood to be an annoyance at the home side’s time-wasting tactics. Mourinho walked over to the Southampton dugout and appeared to look at a piece of paper that was being written on, before having a few words. Mourinho has already had a number of moments where he’s had confrontations with managers on the sideline or made comments about them to the media, so we’ve collated some of the more notable moments in his managerial career.
