When it comes to reporting on Leeds United, very few, if any, journalists are more reliable than The Athletic’s Phil Hay, so when he links Leeds with a player, people sit up and take notice.
In a recent Q&A on the Athletic website a few days ago, Hay was asked about the players Leeds could target if Arsenal recall Eddie Nketiah and he named Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster and Southampton’s Che Adams.
He said:
Rhian Brewster is a definite target (or on the list). If Che Adams is made available by Southampton on loan, don’t rule Leeds out of that one either.
Since that Q&A, rumours have been rife linking Adams with a move to Elland Road, with plenty of United fans taking to social media to discuss the possible transfer, although there is still no word of any official approach from Leeds to Saints.

Whilst Adams hasn’t had the start to his Southampton career that he would have wanted, he’s still an important player for Saints, as highlighted by his selection to lead the line against Chelsea.
Unless Saints have a replacement lined up, it’s difficult to see them loaning Adams out in January.
