Pundit Noel Whelan has claimed that he does not believe Southampton do not want Fraser Forster back at the club despite his form at Celtic.
Speaking to Football Insider, Whelan revealed that he believes Celtic have been handed the best possible Christmas present with Ralph Hasenhuttl revealing that he has no intentions of bringing back the goalkeeper in January.

Forster has improved massively since moving to Celtic, after a couple of injury-hit seasons at St Mary’s.
Whelan said:
I can’t understand why Fraser Forster is not in the Southampton team. He’s an outstanding keeper and has proved that at Celtic this season.
He is in the running for an England recall and I would imagine Jordan Pickford is watching him over his shoulder and starting to get a bit nervous about his place.
Credit for Neil Lennon for getting Forster back when Scott Bain got injured. It’s proved to be a masterstroke and keeping hold of him for the rest of the season is huge and the best possible Christmas present for the club.
There’s no doubt Fraser Forster can be a massive influence for the rest of the season.
Read Southampton’s verdict
Forster really needed to leave Southampton to find better form, which he has done so with Celtic.
The Saints have gone back to Alex McCarthy, and it’s worked, which means that Forster really isn’t needed on the South Coast.
Maybe a permanent deal may happen.
