Crystal Palace boss Hodgson still hasn’t forgiven Southampton’s Ings over transfer snub

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has revealed that he has not forgiven striker Danny Ings for rejecting a move to the Eagles and instead moving to Southampton.

The Saints forward was linked with a move to both Southampton and Crystal Palace when he was about to leave Liverpool, with Ings moving to St Mary’s instead of Selhurst Park.

Speaking ahead of the clash between the two sides this weekend, Hodgson revealed that he still isn’t over the fact Ings rejected a move to the Eagles.

He said, via London News Online:

I don’t know if I can really forgive him for not signing for us and then going to Southampton instead. I’ve still got a bee in my bonnet about that one.

I really admire Danny Ings as a player. He is what you would call a natural goalscorer. His movement in and around the penalty area is very good, when a chance comes his way he has the technique to take the chance.

He was part of my England squad and was unlucky to have picked up a very nasty injury soon afterwards.

The Eagles have a big lack of quality depth up front, and it’s easy to see what Ings would’ve added to their attack.

If Southampton stay up, he could be a big part in them avoiding the drop.
