Nottingham Forest could make a loan move to sign Che Adams in January.
According to a report from The Athletic, the Championship side want to add another striker to their squad when the transfer window opens.
Sabri Lamouchi is keen to supplement his current crop of attacking options with a fresh face, and it is claimed that Saints star Adams and Brighton and Hove Albion veteran Glenn Murray are the two main players under consideration.
The Athletic reports that the 23-year-old would only be likely to depart on a temporary basis, if at all, with his first-team game time at St Mary’s limited of late.

Loaning Adams out would be nonsensical just months after he arrived as a hugely exciting signing at Southampton.

He has not hit the ground running at his new club, but he is a young player who requires patience, regular first-team action in the Premier League and trust from his manager.
By the looks of things, Adams has received not one of the aforementioned three things, and it comes as little surprise to hear of speculation surrounding his future at Saints.
He is a proven goalscorer in the Championship, and he would undoubtedly fire for Forest should he secure a move back down to the second tier.
However, Adams must be kept, and he must be played. He will never adapt to the Premier League if he doesn’t have sufficient opportunities, and he should be given more chances at Southampton.
