Southampton edged to yet another win against their relegation rivals on Wednesday, beating Norwich City 2-1 to lift the Saints out of the bottom three at the expense of Everton, who dropped down to 18th.
In an impressive first half, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side raced into a two-goal lead, with Danny Ings striking first before Ryan Bertrand tapped in.
Norwich started strongly in the second half, bringing the game to the home side, and this pressure paid off as Teemu Pukki fired home just after the hour mark to give the Canaries some hope.
Saints still posed a threat on the break, but Norwich were persistent in their pressing as they searched for the goal that would draw them level.
However, Southampton were resolute while defending and held on for what was a massive three points.
It was a good performance from the hosts, and there were some exceptional individual performances. Here are three of the best.
Danny Ings
Once again, Ings turns up for Saints, scoring one and causing a threat for the Norwich rearguard throughout. Long may his impressive form continue!

James Ward-Prowse
A key man in the midfield. He was all over the pitch and was impressive in both the attacking and defensive departments. His performance all but carried the Saints to the win against the Canaries.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
Alongside Ward-Prowse, Hojbjerg was a vital part of the win. He was everywhere and was so good in defence. He was impressive going forward, as well. A true captain’s contribution.
