Ings admits he’s fully settled at Southampton after tough spell

Striker Danny Ings signed Southampton from Liverpool on loan in 2018 and made the switch permanent in July 2019 for a reported fee of around £20m.

The former Burnley striker has had plenty of injury woes during his career, especially at Liverpool.

However, the forward is now back to full fitness and is firing in the goals for Southampton. He’s the team’s top scorer this season with seven goals in all competitions.

Ings has opened up regarding his move to the south coast. As quoted on the club’s official website, he said:

I’m settled now. I think it took a long time for me to get settled back down here because when you’ve been living away from home since you were 15 or 16 years old, and then moving back a man, it’s hard to adapt.

It does feel familiar. I chose to live close enough to my family and friends so that I could settle in as quickly as I could. It’s great to be close to them, being able to pop in for a cuppa or go out for dinner with the boys.

It’s nice, and something I’ve not had for a long time. It was always them coming to visit me in different locations, so it’s nice to be back home.

Ings is Southampton’s main goal threat and to have him fully comfortable is a big boost for the team because it means he’ll be performing to his full potential.

The club is enduring a difficult time at the moment and Ings could be the man to help turn around their fortunes.

He’ll be hoping to cause havoc to the Arsenal defence this weekend at the Emirates as a crucial festive fixture schedule looms.
