United States defender Aaron Long has been heavily linked with a move to Southampton in recent weeks.
The centre-back is highly-rated in the MLS and the Mirror, as quoted on HITC, report that Southampton are now ready to sign him.

The 27-year-old New York Red Bulls man won the MLS Defender of the Year award in 2018 and Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is said to be keen on bringing him to England.
The Saints desperately need to tighten up their defensive unit as they have conceded an incredible 29 goals already in the league.
Fellow Premier League side West Ham were also said to be interested in Long, who could be available for as cheap as £5m in January.
READ SOUTHAMPTON VERDICT
This is a good time for Long to leave the MLS and challenge himself in the best league in the world.
His passing ability and composure with the ball at his feet is his greatest asset, but he is also an aggressive and determined tackler.
He could be the man to solve Southampton’s defensive woes and at such a cheap price, he could turn out to be a very good signing.
