Former Southampton manager Dave Jones is pondering a move back to the south coast as the club’s new director of football, according to a report on the Daily Mail.
The Saints are on the hunt for a new director of football after Ross Wilson left the club to join Scottish Premiership side Rangers.

Jones is keen to secure the role at the club, who were the centre of attention throughout the weekend after the embarrassing 9-0 loss at home to Leicester City.
Jones was at the helm for the Saints from 1997 until 2000 and has been out of a job since April 2017.
Would Jones be a good director of football?

One positive note is that Jones has experience of working at the club before, so he knows what the club likes and what they value.
He’s also been a manager at multiple clubs in the football league so he knows the English game very well.
The only concern would be that Jones is possibly a lot older than many other candidates and in terms of pushing the club forward in the modern game, he might not be the man with the best current ideas.
