Southampton will be hoping to beat Chelsea on home soil for the first time since 2013 when they welcome the London giants to St Mary’s on Sunday afternoon.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side will go into this game off the back of consecutive league defeats against Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur, with Chelsea having won two of their last three.
Frank Lampard’s side enjoyed a 2-1 Champions League victory away in Lille during the week, with Saints, therefore, handed some extra preparation time for this clash.
In the last two visits to the South Coast, Chelsea have managed to score three goals on both occasions, but with Saints boasting an improved defensive record over the past month or two, this game has potential to be a bit tighter.
Nevertheless, Chelsea pose a big threat and Southampton will need to be at their best if they are to achieve anything from the game and get back to winning ways.
I have taken a look at the key battles ahead of Sunday’s game.
