With Southampton’s striking options failing to fire so far this season, and with Nathan Redmond injured, could this now be a good chance for Dan N’Lundulu to get a chance in the first team?
N’Lundulu impressed for the Under-23s last season and is continuing in the same fashion this term. He recently scored and assisted in Saints U23s’ 3-2 defeat to Forest Green in the Leasings.com Trophy.

The Englishman has scored three goals in three appearances this season, and it could be time for Ralph Hasenhuttl to give the youngster some Premier League game time.
With N’Lundulu possessing blistering pace and great strength, he could offer something different up front. The 20-year-old could compete with Che Adams, who is yet to score in a Southampton shirt, and Ings, too, who has only scored once in his four appearances.

N’Lundulu could offer new blood in the attack and has the potential to be a real problem for Premier League defences.
Despite this, Ings and Adams need to be given more time to form a solid strike partnership in the league. The £15 million summer signing desperately needs a goal to give him a confidence boost. Ings, meanwhile, also has to rediscover his scoring form, which really helped the Saints avoid relegation last season.
You would expect N’Lundulu to feature for Saints at some point this season, especially with Hasenhuttl known for giving youth players a chance.
However, if he is to be given an opportunity, it will require a big leap of faith from the manager.
