Southampton will face Portsmouth for the first time since 2012 after being drawn away to their fiercest rivals in the Carabao Cup.
The tie, which will be played on the week commencing on the 23rd September, will see the two south coast rivals clash at Fratton Park.
The Saints have not won in this fixture since beating Portsmouth in the FA Cup in 2005, having drawn the last two league meetings in the Championship.

Several Saints fans on social media are obviously excited with the cup draw, with many hoping for a win away at Fratton Park.

Ralph Hasenhuttl might’ve been hoping for some lower league opposition in the next round so he could play some youth players for some experience.
Well, he’s certainly got a draw featuring lower league opposition, but I don’t think he’ll be playing the kids.
As soon as Portsmouth beat QPR, this was the game that all the Saints fans wanted, and they’ve got it.
This will be huge for Southampton and could be a huge confidence booster if they’re able to finally get their better of their south coast rivals.
