Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has reiterated that he is ‘100 per cent’ committed to the cause at Southampton, and the club should do everything in their power to keep him here for years to come.
Speaking at a Fans’ Forum staged at St Mary’s Stadium, the midfielder was quizzed about whether or not he would be following Nathan Redmond’s lead and signing a new contract at Saints.
While he was coy in his answer, Hojbjerg allayed any fears and insisted that he remains totally focused on giving his all to the club for the foreseeable future. He said:
I know for some people, you need to sign a contract; you need to show on long terms that you are committed to the club.
But I can assure you all that there is absolutely no doubt that I am 100 per cent committed to the club.

Hojbjerg is always well-spoken, and he certainly chooses his words carefully. It’s good to see that he remains determined to lead the club to success, but it would be incredibly reassuring if he were to sign a new contract, preferably as soon as possible.
The captain has just two years remaining of the five-year deal he penned in 2016 when he joined from Bayern Munich, and he is a pivotal part of Ralph Hasenhuttl’s plans.
Hojbjerg has been a mainstay in the team since the boss came through the door last December, and as such, Saints would loathe losing a player of such importance.
The Denmark international has earned a new, improved deal at the club. We can only hope and pray that he agrees to commit his future not only with encouraging words but with actions, too.
