It was opening day misery for Ralph Hasenhuttl and Southampton as Saints lost 3-0 to Burnley.
There had been a slight sense of optimism within the Southampton camp and with the fans heading into Ralph’s first full season as Saints boss, after eight wins in 23 games helped the side to avoid relegation last campaign.
All of that optimism came crashing down just after the hour mark at Turf Moor, as Ashley Barnes pounced on Jannik Vestergaard’s misjudgment to fire through the legs of Angus Gunn to put the hosts ahead.
